About half a million Central Americans try to transit Mexico every year and enter illegally the USA. The reason for this dangerous passage is the poverty and lack of prospects they suffer in their home countries and the hope to get a good job in the north which helps supporting the familiy at home.
Most of them try to overcome the long way from the southern mexican border to the North on the top of a train. This freight train takes about eleven days - if everything works out - to cross 3200 kilometers untill reaching the US-border.

That means for the migrants to persevere eleven days in the blazing heat on the steely roof hoping not to doze off or swoon and fall down like 20-years-old Jessica from El Salvador. The train cuts off her right lower leg.
How many migrants are run over by the train is unknown, some bleed to death out in the desert. Some are fortunated and get found by somebody who cares about medical aid. After the amputation some of them reach the Hostel „El buen pastor” in Tapachula where Dona Olga support them to regain to a new life. There I met Jessica.
